SO, since we aren’t moving to China because of the internet restrictions, where will we move? I don’t know how we came to our next decision. I think it was from our friend, Cody, who spent a year in Japan as a foreign exchange student, and he highly recommended moving to Japan. He mentioned that we could make REALLY good money as English teachers over-there, there are no internet restrictions, and the living conditions are a little cleaner then China. So, I again hit the “researching” button…not as cool as the “Easy” button, but I came across a site called www.gaijinpot.com where on one site you can find where to live, work and play in Japan! Maybe Gaijinpot is the “Easy” button for Japanese living!
On that site, I founds jobs to make a little over $3,000 a month teaching English, and most jobs give you $300-$600 a month to cover rent. So I then found apartments in that price range…either a nice studio apartment or a one bedroom…better living then I could find in that price range in the U.S. From the end of December 2010 until March 11th, 2011 we were set on moving to Japan to teach English. We had also decided not just to move to Japan right away, but to actually travel before we settled into a new career in a new country.
We were so excited, we would be making more money then we were in the U.S, so we could save money and even pay off debt. We would also get to fullfill our dream of vagabonding…just strapping on our packs and going where the wind would blow us. Where would the wind blow us? Maybe SE Asia…
