The beauty of the city has my neck craned skyward so I can take in all the detail of the tall architecture, with my eyes every so often sweeping the ground in front of me keeping a keen look-out for dog poop. The city is full of people with their dogs in tow - small and large, short and hairy, black, white or scary… no pup is the same.
Two things that have stayed consistent is the weather and our company. The outside air is brisk, but the heater is set on 26°C which seems to keep my teeth from chattering. It’s cold here in Spain, unlike what I’m use to in Thailand, but it’s worth it.
The reason we came here, in the middle of winter non-the less, was to rendezvous with our two great friends Michael and Chelé. Four amigos from Nebraska under one roof in Spain for one month. Does it get better than this? Well, yes! If it was August, it would be better – but that’s not the point!
Chelé perfectly put into words our first week in Spain on her blog, as I was too busy shoveling my awestruck jaw off the ground, while gaining my bearings, to even try writing!
After week one, and coming up on two, we have started to find our footing in Spain. I would go as far as to say that it’s starting to feel like home. In fact, today I had to remind myself that I had two new room mates, and I indeed could not keep the door open to take a pee.
We spend most of our days with 4 sets of eyes locked on our computer screens working. Yes, working! We still have jobs while being on the road, and Spain is no exception.
Many would laugh at the sight they see Monday-Friday 11am-1am in our bright green living room. Every surface either side table, dining table, floor or sofa is covered in technology to help us get our jobs done!
Just as Chelé says, “…our location has changed but our daily doings have not…”
Between working weekday hours and on semi work-less weekends we take a break to walk the city, buy amazing cheese, savor some local jamón, sip slowly on a cerveza or hit up a museum!
Life is great in Valencia, Spain… and I see our somewhat consistent “daily doings” only getting better!
